The Bar Buddies
Gentlemen Start Your Engines! Oh no...wait! That's the Bar Buddies. For over eight years our clients at the Damien Center Food Pantry have been blessed by the extraordinary charity of The Bar Buddies! However the shopping extravaganza on June 21st was absolutely phenomenal. Thanks to the amazing efforts of Don Lee and Bill Bisson, $1,700 in proceeds from the Queen's Corner T-Shirt Sale was spent on food for our food pantry. We would also like to recognize the owners and manager at Cosmos's, Ivy's Olly's and Varsity, whose patrons made this inaugural effort such a success! We extend a special thanks to Ivy's and Cosmos's whose owners actively participated by purchasing shirts for their employees. In total, nearly $2,100 in food and toiletries were donated that day. Since the beginning we project that the Bar Buddies shopping efforts has stocked our food pantry shelves with food, toiletries and diapers valued in excess of $50,000. To each participant and to donors, we send our good wishes and sincere gratitude for your tremendous support. We look forward to a long and fruitful relationship that allows us to serve even better those in central Indiana affected by HIV/AIDS. We look forward to our visit from the Bar Buddies, since they are a lot of fun, too! Tip your glass and toast the Bar Buddies in THANKS! |

Greetings from the Development Team
We are gearing up for many opportunities here at the Damien Center. As a donor, you can support The Damien Center in many ways- through annual giving societies, by serving as a table captain and/or beoming a sponsor for the 2008 Grande Masquerade (GM). We are also in great need of general operating support. All gifts are tax deductible and greatly appreciated! Call me at extension 269 with any questions or how to contribute. Our sponsors thus far for GM are Barnes and Thornburg, Walgreens, Bioscript, Ice Miller, The Word, Consolidated Union, Baker Daniels, and BSA LIfestructures.
I have a great friend Kathleen, a DC client, who graciously shared her story at Ben Solomon's Summer Celebration. She has tremendous courage and a very contagious smile. We want to thank Kathleen for reminding us why TDC is so important to central Indiana.
If you have not received an official thank you letter for any gift you have received in 2008, please contact Sandy at ext. 236. We are resolving some tracking issues with our software, and need your help. Also, if your contact information has changed (including email), please remember to notify us. We do not want any DC donors to fall through the cracks! You are all so important and appreciated!

The Damien Center recently completed its recertification by CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitative Facilities. The two evaluators were extraordinarily complimentary on their exit interview. Despite the fact it is Commission policy not to rate an entity exemplary two times in a row, the evaluators intend to strongly recommend an exemplary rating for the Damien Center. " The Damien Center is even better than it was 3 years ago." Many thanks to Stephanie Dayton for her hard work in organizing and hosting the CARF auditors during their week-long visit. _______________________________
