Volunteers

The staff members of the Damien Center are able to do their jobs well thanks to our amazing volunteer force. Currently, we are matching volunteers with the job opportunities that meet the needs of the ever-changing face of HIV.

Volunteer Opportunities

1.
Dining Out for Life Ambassadors
(volunteers can choose from the many restaurants that support this event - breakfast, lunch, or dinner - will work anywhere between 1 and 3 hours at the restaurant of their choice soliciting donations from the patrons)
2.
Grande Masquerade Assistance
(work to either setup or cleanup after the dinner; setup or cleanup for the Masquerade Ball; become a table captain to sell tickets; or, greet and direct arriving guests)
3.
Food Pantry Assistance
(work with other volunteers to clean, organize, and stock the pantry as well as assisting clients with food selections)
4.
Testing & Prevention Front Desk Receptionist
(work the front desk within the testing and prevention department, answering the phone and assisting testers with paperwork for walk-in's)
5. Office Administrative Needs
(work to assist the administrative needs of various departments in the Center - i.e. copies, paperwork, database entry, phone calls, etc)
6. Public Speakers
(volunteers willing to assist the outreach efforts of the Damien Center, speaking about the Center and HIV 101 with high school and university students, religious congregations, public forums, etc)
7. Health Fairs
(work with staff members to work the Damien Center information booths at the various health fairs that take place throughout the year - predominantly May through September)
8.
Meet the Center Tour Guides
(volunteers needed to give guided tours of the building for those interested in the Damien Center)
9. Tele-ReminderThons for Grande Masquerade
(the Damien Center is looking for individuals that would agree to work a few Saturday's just prior to our Grande Masquerade to assist our efforts in calling on our constituents to remind them of the upcoming event)

Confidentiality Statement

If you are interested in running a food drive for the Damien Center food pantry, please open and print the two documents below.  This is another way you can volunteer for the Damien Center.  Your church, softball team or even a scout troop can do a food drive.  Any size or amount of food is welcomed by the Damien Center Food Pantry.
