Ruth has a passion for helping her community, specifically when it comes to identifying barriers and advocating and assisting with various resources. She first got involved with The Bethlehem House over seven years ago. As a former client, she recognized that this was a safe haven and began volunteering six months into the program. It was at The Bethlehem House that Ruth first began working with those affected by HIV/AIDS, substance abuse and behavior disorders.

Ruth graduated from IvyTech Community College with an Associates in Human Services and spent time volunteering at Brothers United. After realizing that substance abuse and high-risk behaviors are interwtwined, she wanted to get more involved in helping others. Ruth now has her Certified Addiction Peer Recovery Coach Certification. Ruth says, "I just want to help people who are living with HIV win, and particularly those who need assistance overcoming the most difficult barriers such as substance abuse, homelessness, and mental illness. Without these barriers clients will be able to thrive. I’m proud to be working with a team that goes hard for the clients in many ways."
