Our social groups are designed to meet your needs. All are welcome! You do not have to be a client at the Damien Center to join us. Check out our currently active groups below. Trans & Non-Binary Social Group

The Trans and Non-Binary Social Group is an open support group for Trans and Non-Binary individuals. The group will create a safe space for Trans and Non-binary folks to come to receive encouragement and talk about real life situations to increase resilience and strengths. The group is created to help reduce isolation and create a sense of belonging.

The Women’s Empowerment Social Group will be a space where women who engage with the Damien Center can come to talk about everyday struggles and have a safe space to open up about what is happening in their lives.

The Positive Living Social Group is a space for those living and thriving with HIV to find peer support, share their journey, and connect with their community.

Ethical Non-Monogamy

The Ethical Non-Monogamy (ENM) Social Group is an open group for nonmonogamous and polyamorous individuals. The group will create a safe space for folks to receive encouragement, support, and talk about real life situations to increase resilience and strength. The group is created to help reduce isolation, meet other ENM people, and create a sense of belonging. Sexual health supplies will also be available.

SMART Recovery

Self-Management and Recovery Training (SMART) is a science-based program that aims to help people recover and gain independence from any addictive behavior, including alcohol, smoking, drugs, gambling, sex, shopping, and so on. We will talk about how to build and maintain motivation, cope with urges, manage our thoughts and behaviors, and live a balanced life. 

SMART is not a 12-step program. Religious and spiritual beliefs and practices are a personal choice in your recovery and not an inherent part of the program.

Nosotros Podemos

This group will be a space where Latino/a/e people can come to talk about everyday struggles and have a safe space to open up about what is happening in their lives. The group will be conducted mainly in Spanish.

Este grupo será un espacio donde la gente latina puede venir a hablar de luchas cotidianas y tienen un espacio seguro para abrirse sobre lo que está sucediendo en sus vidas. El grupo se realizará principalmente en español.
