How the Indiana AIDS Walk impacts The Damien Center

September 12, 2018

Life doesn’t always go as planned. There are bumps in the road that come along and unexpected turns that make it difficult to achieve the stability needed to manage HIV. Sometimes these unexpected situations are hard to recover from and cannot be done alone - The Damien Center is here to help.

Our Housing and Emergency Assistance services help promote stability and enhance the quality of live for individuals affected by HIV by allowing access to safe, affordable housing and supportive services. The Gregory R. Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA) Fund allows us to provide short-term assistance with rent or necessities such as eye glasses, wheel chair ramps, utility assistance, rent, and a myriad of other items that other grants don’t allow.

The Indiana AIDS Walk helps raise funds for the Gregory R. Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA) Fund which allows for assistance in breaking down these barriers. The Damien Center utilizes these funds and helps individuals with the regrouping, strategizing, and developing plans to move forward. The Indiana AIDS Walk provides an opportunity to not only raise awareness but to raise funds for those affected by HIV by breaking down these barriers and helping cover unexpected expenses that come up.

Above is just a small picture of why The Indiana AIDS Walk is so important to our community and to The Damien Center. With the money raised from The Indiana AIDS Walk, we are able to empower individuals and act as a beacon of hope in difficult times. The Indiana AIDS Walk and money raised for the DEFA Fund helps people move towards a life of stability.

Get involved with the Indiana AIDS Walk and help surround, empower, and assist those that The Damien Center works with every day. Help The Damien Center help others in the community by raising money for the DEFA Fund.

Please spread the word - ask your friends and family to help serve those in the community who have been affected by HIV. Every dollar counts and every little bit will help break down barriers to care.
