How the Indiana AIDS Walk impacts The Damien Center

Life doesn’t always go as planned. There are bumps in the road that come along and unexpected turns that make it difficult to achieve the stability needed to manage HIV. Sometimes these unexpected situations are hard to recover from and cannot be done alone - The Damien Center is here to help.

Our Housing and Emergency Assistance services help promote stability and enhance the quality of live for individuals affected by HIV by allowing access to safe, affordable housing and supportive services. The Gregory R. Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA) Fund allows us to provide short-term assistance with rent or necessities such as eye glasses, wheel chair ramps, utility assistance, rent, and a myriad of other items that other grants don’t allow.

The Indiana AIDS Walk helps raise funds for the Gregory R. Powers Direct Emergency Financial Assistance (DEFA) Fund which allows for assistance in breaking down these barriers. The Damien Center utilizes these funds and helps individuals with the regrouping, strategizing, and developing plans to move forward. The Indiana AIDS Walk provides an opportunity to not only raise awareness but to raise funds for those affected by HIV by breaking down these barriers and helping cover unexpected expenses that come up.

With the money raised from The Indiana AIDS Walk, we are able to empower individuals and act as a beacon of hope in difficult times.
