Updates to Volunteer Restrictions

COVID-19 Volunteer Restrictions: Volunteers ages 65+ are able to return!

As COVID-19 vaccines are becoming available to the public, Damien Center is easing some of the restrictions put in place for volunteers. We will now allow volunteers over the age of 65 to return and encourage those age 70+ to get the vaccine, if able.

We still ask that those with underlying health conditions that may put them at increased risk of severe illness from the COVID-19 virus refrain from volunteering for the time being.

Expanding Our Services: Damien Center is growing!

As part of our ongoing efforts to better serve our community, we are so excited to announce that the Damien Center is opening a satellite location! We will be partnering with Community Alliance of the Far Eastside (CAFE) to offer testing, prevention, case management, emergency assistance, and housing services on the far east side of Indianapolis. As we look to the future, we will expand into medical care

Upcoming Opportunities

Target Donation Drop-Off
Help Damien Center staff and other volunteers unload, clean, and stock personal and home hygiene items donated from Target. Masks must be worn. Volunteers needed on January 21 and February 18.

Community Clean-Up
Join Damien Center for a community cleanup on Saturday, January 30 at 11:00 a.m. Work alongside Damien Center staff, clients, and community members in beautifying the area around 26 North Arsenal Avenue. Gloves and trash bags will be provided.

Safer Sex Kit Assembly
Come help us package up safe sex kits to hand out to the community on February 22. Masks and gloves will be provided for those who need them, and we are making sure to adhere to social distancing guidelines.

Virtual Damien 101 Training
New dates for virtual Damien 101 Training have been added to the Timecounts Hub. This training is mandatory to be qualified for future volunteering with us. It will mostly consist of an informational presentation on Damien Center, HIV information, and our varying opportunities.
