Moving forward with a commitment to growth and empowerment

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Damien Center is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has appointed Alan Witchey as the new President and Chief Executive Officer effective August 6, 2018. Alan’s appointment reflects The Damien Center’s commitment to continued growth and the empowerment of people affected by HIV/AIDS.

“The Damien Center is about life and living with honor and dignity in ways that you could not have imagined twenty years ago,” says Witchey. “We are at a place where we can prevent HIV and AIDS, and have people not just live a normal life, but to thrive and be happy in that life.”

Alan brings over fifteen years of experience in nonprofit management to The Damien Center. Most recently, he served as the Executive Director for the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP) of Greater Indianapolis. Alan also has prior experience working with The Damien Center and in the field of HIV/AIDS. With a wealth of experience in HIV/AIDS, housing and nonprofit leadership, the board has great confidence in Alan’s ability to lead The Damien Center into the future.

Witchey’s previous work with The Damien Center started as a volunteer in the 1990s, and later became a full-time position. His first task will be to begin the strategic planning process to decide the future direction of the organization, and what improvements can be made to existing programs and services.

The Damien Center is Indiana’s oldest and largest AIDS service organization. It is a leading resource, provider and advocate for comprehensive HIV/AIDS care, prevention, education and related services.
