Tickets are now on sale for Damien Center’s 35th annual fundraising event Grande Masquerade: VOGUE, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022 at the JW Marriott, 10 S. West St., Indianapolis. The VOGUE-themed masquerade ball will feature dinner, live entertainment, and a live and silent auction. Grande Masquerade has become one of Indianapolis’ premier philanthropic galas, drawing more than 600 attendees each year. All funds raised through the event will directly support Damien Center’s one-stop-shop approach to HIV prevention and care.

Guests attending Grande Masquerade will also be entertained by Alex Newell, who will emcee the event. Newell is an American actor and GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer. He is best known for his role as Unique Adams on the Fox musical series “Glee,” where they depicted one of network television’s very first transgender characters (Newell himself identifies as a gender non-conforming male).

Newell clinched #1 on the Billboard Dance/Club chart for his collaboration on DJ Cassidy’s “Kill the Lights” and has headlined for Adam Lambert on tour. Simultaneously, he used his platform to uplift LGBTQ youth through advocacy and aligning with The Trevor Project and GLAAD, among other organizations.

In 2018, Newell appeared on Broadway, joining the Tony Award-winning revival of “Once on This Island” in the role of Asaka, earning him a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of Best Musical Theater Album.
