April is National Volunteer Month and we’re celebrating our amazing volunteers.

In 2020, the year of quarantine, social distancing, shutdowns, and masks, volunteers gave over 1,650 hours of their time to Damien Center. Their effort helped us keep our doors open and continue to serve people affected by HIV in Central Indiana. They’ve sorted, sanitized, and stocked personal hygiene products for the Food Pantry. They’ve assembled safe sex kits to pass out in the community. They’ve posted about Damien Center fundraisers on social media. They’ve taught life skills to clients living independently for the first time. They’ve passed out groceries to clients accessing the Food Pantry. They’ve assisted with data entry. They’ve wrapped holiday gifts for families in need. They’ve even picked up trash outside of Damien Center to ensure a clean environment for clients and staff. Each one of our volunteers has made a difference in the way we are able to run our organization and ultimately help those who need it. It means so much that these people have decided to volunteer their time and skills with us.

Throughout the month of April, we will be spotlighting a few of our most dedicated volunteers.
